  1. This pile reappears from time to time, the houses behind include short term holiday rentals and a lot of the local residents are elderly. There are also a few derelict houses opposite, so a lack of a community in the area that can stop people dumping.

    • Yes indeed Oisin. There are many such piles that keep reappearing, in the many hotspots across the city.

      Don’t believe that it should be the community’s job to stop dumping. Though of course that would help and is welcome.

      The Corpo have the legal responsibility and the legal power. Community disapproval can only apply some limited influence. We have received many stories of a resident approaching someone engaged in blatant
      daylight street dumping and being told to f… off. What can the resident do then ? Nothing.

      DCC need to urgently step up and apply effective enforcement. On the spot fines, out sourced if necessary, like the Clamper companies. That is just one possible enforcement option, out of many.
      So far they seem to be adopting none of them.
